23 Jan 2010There is a popular track for off-roaders at West Melton in Christchurch. I took time out from photographing the speedway next door to catch some shots of the NZ championships. The event yielded some great shots:

Some of the vehicles look like giant insects. The suspension setups have to be seen to be believed.
Right in front of me, a vehicle very obligingly flipped (at a fairly low speed) and managed to complete about four revolutions before coming to rest. “That’s nothing” said the spectator next to me “I’ve done seven!”
The driver seemed to be fine, and he was competing in his next race half an hour later. Tough breed!
